Overview

Calla Yee focuses her practice on global portfolio management, including domestic and foreign trademark clearance, global trademark prosecution, international and domestic trademark protection strategies, global portfolio audits, and comprehensive re-branding initiatives. In addition to her prosecution and global portfolio management practice, Calla handles global registry disputes and enforcement efforts. Calla works with clients of all sizes and in a broad range of businesses, including the apparel and fashion industries, luxury beauty products, pharmaceutical, health, and medical device fields, consumer food and alcohol beverage space, entertainment and content production, and software and technology, among others.

While attending law school, Calla was a research assistant for Professor J. Thomas McCarthy. While working with Professor McCarthy, Calla was tasked with performing research on relevant case law and legal literature for the purpose of updating and maintaining Professor McCarthy’s treatises, McCarthy on Trademarks and Unfair Competition and The Rights of Publicity and Privacy. While at law school, Calla was also a staff member of the University of San Francisco Law Review, the literary editor of the Maritime Law Journal, a Board member of the University of San Francisco Moot Court Program, a survey author for the University of San Francisco Intellectual Property Law Bulletin, and a two-time participant in the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition. In 2015, she was a member of the 2015 Saul Lefkowitz Western Regional first place team. Calla graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law with honors, having earned an Intellectual Property & Technology Law Certificate, with honors.

Calla is an active member of the International Trademark Association and sits on the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Project Team. Calla has been the chair of the San Francisco Region of the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition since 2016.

Calla was recognized in 2025 as one of the "Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch" for Intellectual Property Law by The Best Lawyers in America®. She was recognized as a Northern California “Rising Star” in 2024 and the five years immediately preceding for Intellectual Property by Super Lawyers magazine. In 2023, Calla was named one of the Bay Area’s “40 Under 40” Leaders by San Francisco Business Times. She was recommended by Legal 500 US in 2023 for Non-Contentious Trademark Law. Calla was named a "Trademark Leader" in 2024 by World IP Review. She was recognized as a “Lawyer on the Fast Track” at The Recorder's 2023 annual California Legal Awards program. Calla was named to the "NAWL Rising List" in 2024 by the National Association of Women Lawyers.
