Lawson Allen focuses his practice on patent litigation matters. From drafting complaints for the U.S. International Trade Commission and consolidating cases before the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, to arguing claim construction and examining witnesses at trial, he has experience in all aspects of litigation. Lawson has experience handling complex cases involving hundreds of products has also litigated issues involving patent-eligible subject matter under 35 U.S.C. § 101 before the Patent and Trademark Appeal Board (PTAB), district courts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Additionally, Lawson assists clients with patent opinions, such as freedom to operate, due diligence, non-infringement, and validity opinions, as well as the development of pre-litigation strategy, evaluation of risk, and post-grant proceedings before the PTAB. He also counsels clients with respect to licensing, agreements, and patent prosecution matters. Lawson represents clients in a broad range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, health and life sciences, semiconductors, media, financial, e-commerce, and Internet technologies.
Prior to joining the firm, Lawson was a summer associate and then an intellectual property litigation associate in the Washington, D.C. office of a northeast regional law firm where he represented clients in district court litigations, Federal Circuit appeals, and post-grant proceedings before the PTAB, as well as in pro bono matters in state court.
Lawson was recognized as a Washington D.C. "Rising Star" in 2024 for Intellectual Property by Super Lawyers magazine.
